Hillary you got dumped Babe

That is the only expression I can think of when yesterday John Lewis defected from the Clinton camp. The 68 year old Democrat (who I might add is a superdelegate) said his decison was based on being on the side of history. I mean he realized that more then half his state voted for Barack.

Buoyed by his wins in 11 nominating contests in a row, Obama has eroded Clinton's lead in the superdelegate count heading into pivotal nominating contests on Tuesday in Texas and Ohio.

"Something is happening in America," Lewis said. I know he would be mad as hell if he wasn't a part of it.

Lewis said he had a "deep and abiding love" for Clinton and her husband, ex-president Bill Clinton, and said the New York senator was a "brilliant and capable candidate." He said he had tried and so far failed to talk to Clinton about his decision to defect, which he said was partly motivated by Obama's landslide in his district in the Georgia primary on February 5.

If I was John Lewis I wouldn't worry about it. A person who doesn't respect another person's right to choice is not a friend. Never was. Fences might be mended after the election, but I doubt it.

Speaking on a Houston television station, Clinton said Lewis had been under "tremendous pressure" over his choice, "but he's been my friend and he will always be my friend."

As I stated I don't see that relationship healing itself.

Haitian Woman Dies on American Airlines Flight

I know by now many might have heard the story of Carine Desir, the 44 year old woman who died on he way from Haiti to New York on American Airlines. Desir had heart disease and diabetes, and was having trouble breathing. A pediatrician who said he tried to use the plane's defibrillator on her as she faded, but her pulse was already too weak for it to work.

The doctor, Joel Shulkin, was one of several medical professionals who stepped in after flight attendants asked if any were on board. Shulkin said through his attorney, Justin Nadeau, that two emergency medical technicians performed CPR on Desirc. The family states she had stated earlier she was thirsty. A flight attendant brought her some water. Desir, herself a nurse, said she was having trouble breathing and asked for oxygen, Oliver (her nephew) said. "Don't let me die," he recalled her saying. He claims the first oxygen tank was empty and a second one tried, (with the same results). Shulkin stated the defibrillator was working properly.

The Federal Aviation Administration requires commercial flights to carry no fewer than two oxygen dispensers. This flight had 12. FAA spokeswoman Alison Duquette said the agency's Federal Air Surgeon's office plans to discuss Desir's death with officials at Fort Worth, Texas-based American Airlines, a unit of AMR Corp. I am concerned because I want to know that even though I thousands of miles up in the air that if I might need oxygen or some simple medical procedure that if their is no one qualified onboard to do the procedure, that the plane should be landed quickly.

Reward Offered for Arson of this Child

[crenshaw.jpg]

Law enforcement officials are pleading for the public's help in identifying an arsonist who set a home ablaze in South Natomas, Sacramento– a fire that killed Amariana Crenshaw, a 4-year-old girl. Amariana was killed when someone threw a Molotov cocktail into the home on Sweet Pea Way, in Natomas, where she was sleeping, police said. Her foster mother was cleaning the home to make it ready for renters, and four other young people – all teenagers – were also in the house when the fatal blaze broke out about 3:30 a.m., authorities said.

"The fire and death was the direct result of criminal conduct," said Sgt. Matt Young, spokesman for the Sacramento Police Department, which is investigating the incident as a homicide. By the time crews arrived at the burning home, the house was engulfed in flames and smoke. Authorities said it was too late to save the girl, whose badly burned body was found near the front of the house.

What makes this case so sad is that even though the police say there are no suspects, they show were Amariana's Foster mom, Tracy Dossman, was in the process of adopting the child, and the biological mother was not in agreement with that.

Tracy Dossman, filed a restraining order in 2006 against Amariana's biological mother, claiming the woman had threatened to "burn my house down." Sacramento Police Detective Brian DeDonder said investigators interviewed the girl's birth mother and have "no reason to list her as a suspect."

In the meantime this innocent child has died. It is such a sad case.

What is Wrong With Wearing African Garb?

Okay, so what is wrong with what he is wearing? Why is their such a brouhaha over a photo of him in African garb? His campaign manager accused Hillary and her team of leaking the photo in "the most shameful, offensive fear-mongering" tactic of the 2008 presidential race. Was Hillary trying to say when Barack gets into office he is going to make this a mandatory dress code for America. GOOD GRIEF!

In 2006 Bush went to the Apec Summit in Vietnam. He along with Vladimir Putin decided to put on the traditional Vietnamese outfits. I don't recall seeing a big writeup about it in the paper. As a matter of fact, I don't recall anyone even realizing a picture of him wearing traditional Vietnamese garb was even mentioned.

Again, when you visit "anyone's" country the choice of wearing their traditional attire is usually up to you.

Is The Word Conservative a Dirty Word to Black Americans?

I remember when I was a little girl and my mother would take me down to the voting booth at my school. Back then most of the voting booths were in the schools. I stared at her as she went behind the curtains and wondered what she was doing. It was the 1968 election. I had seen all the Hubert Humphrey signs in our home. It was strange to see this white man's picture all over the house.

I remember asking my Mom why she voted for him. She told me, "because he is a democratic." She was sad because she said she wanted to vote for "Bobby," but they killed him. Years later I realized she was talking about then Presidential Candidate, Robert Kennedy.

I was raised believing all blacks most vote for a "Democratic." That this was the way it was suppose to be. As I am older now and I watch Historical happenings in the Nation (woman and black candidate for Presidency), I think are many black feeling they "HAVE" to vote for
OBAMA?

Conservatives are said to believe in Morality and Responsibility are the key strong points in keeping America strong. So are we saying that Democrats don't give a rats ass about these issues? Liberals are said to be more open minded. Progressive was also a word bantered around in the 50's and 60's during the height of the civil rights movement.

If this is the case then why are we going through all these party switching games?

I want to believe that the majority of Americans hold the same values to be through, that is for the betterment of the country.

I suppose we do need opposition in thought, as this is not a totalitarian government.

I really don't consider myself Liberal or Conservative ( I think most people are truly a mixture of both). I consider myself a free thinker and listen to the facts clearly, so that my interest, and my children s interest are properly addressed.

So for many who think voting for anyone but
OBAMA is a cardinal sin, I have to protest. Recently Whoppi Goldberg changed her mind on her Presidential candidate (many blacks labeled her a traitor)...TRAITOR TO WHAT?

I for one is about change and Obama is my choice because I listened carefully to some key issues of his campaign (health care and education), I agree with his way of thinking. I feel the other candidates are too vague on those issues.

So if we are to keep this country with the "freedom" of choice then we should remove the "labels" that bind us. That is my opinon. As Digital Underground said, "Do Whatchalike."

Sudden Surge in Obamacans

What you may ask is an "Obamacan?" Well, according to new statistics these are Republicans that are secretly (some openly) supporting Barack Obama. Daniel B. Chance, a retired oil man,

The above scenario is what is happening all over the United States. "We need a change of leadership," Mr. Chance said. He said Mr. Obama"s rival for the nomination, Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton of New York, would "bounce from one end to the other. You don"t know what to believe when she talks."

All over America the voice of "change" is happening.

Debbie Rowe furious about the kids photograhed with no veils

The mother of Michael Jackson's children is furious they were photographed without their signature veils, the New York Post reported.

"I had kidnap threats when they were babies," the Post quotes Debbie Rowe as saying.

The veils were my idea, not Michael's," Jackson's ex-wife, Debbie Rowe, told London's Daily Mail in her first interview since splitting with the King of Pop a decade ago.

Okay obvious question, Are these (kids) going to wear veils for the rest of their life?
Debbie claims "after the birth of Paris - named after the city where she was conceived - Rowe could no longer have children and Jackson dumped her."

Prince Michael is 10 and Paris 9. I can see these children in college with their masks and veils. Gimme a break.

Barack beat out former Presidents for a Grammy

Well, Barack is on a roll. Grammy's Delegates, You go Obama

Herbie Hancok shocked with Grammy win

That gasp you heard was coming from the Staples Center and living rooms around the country on Sunday night. It was just the reaction to the 50th annual Grammy Awards. Just when it looked as if Amy Winehouse was going to rule the night, jazz pianist Herbie Hancock took album of the year honors for his album River: The Joni Letters
I must say I am happy for Herbie, but how could Amy Winehouse or Kanye West "not" get album honors. Both had sales off the chart.

Hancock stated he didn't even hear his name being called. It was his 11th Grammy. Not bad for the 67 year old

Whitney makes big Comeback

Whitney was looking healthy and the Whitney we know of the past. She attended Clive Davis gala annual pre-Grammy Award Party. She spent the majority of the evening with the Davis family. She also hung out with the other diva, Alicia Keys.Whitney talked about her upcoming album. She’s healthy and focused and clearly engaged. She watched clips on the video screens of her past performances at Davis extravaganzas. Maybe this will be her year and she will be back on top. I hop so. Whitney is still a wonderful talent.

Montel Show Ends After 17 years

Television Distribution has announced that "The Montel Williams Show" will cease production after this television season, his 17th on the air. One thing that people liked about Montel is the fact that he was very personal. We have had talk show host come and go, but Montel and Oprah have hung in there. I remember when he did a show where everyone but a handful of guest walked out the studio audience. I believe it might of been a show on incest.

Montel has tackled almost every subject out there.
he has conducted interviews in federal prisons and has been on the scene of recent American tragedies such as Ground Zero after 9/11 and throughout the Gulf Coast after hurricane Katrina. He will be missed.

It is because of his honesty and openess why he is losing his show. Many people feel it was because of his recent rant on Fox and Friend, where he admonished the newscasters for spending so much time on the death of Heath Ledger and Britney Spears while Soldiers were dying daily in Iraq. (and of course he was right...it was a ridiculous media blitz ).

Approximately 4 days after this rant he was given notice. It seems media moguls can't
"handle the truth."

Congrats to the New York Giants

I am a Native New Yorker. I was not born in NYC, however I grew up there. That is really home for me. So I was thrilled Sunday when THE GIANTS won the Superbowl. I must admit I have never, ever in my life watched the whole game, without getting up once. Since the commercials sucked I was able to enjoy the game more. Eli you rock !

No Sure Winners, Lots of Surprises

Change does not happen in one day. What people did not see is that I don't think anyone would envision Barack Obama would take states like Utah, Idaho, Kansas. This clearly shows that people are not voting for color, they are voting for a change. People are looking for hope. Regardless of many things, people are looking for something better.

The Democratic race is unstoppable. Right now we have had the most people in past elections come out and vote. This itself is a wonderful thing. People are letting their voices get heard.

Yes We Can!

GET OUT AN VOTE!...YES WE CAN!

Get Out and Vote, Be Counted

No matter who you are supporting, I think it is important to go out and vote. I listen to lots of my friends who spend time complaining about the social services, health care issues, blah, blah. I asked them did they go and vote and support the propositions that could affect changes to their concerns.
Of course I hear the usual excuses, "I didn't have time," or "it won't make a difference."

Well you can't make a difference staying home. I support Obama, because I love his stratey on getting the troops out of Iraq. I feel strongly about this issue. One quote I love from Obama states,"The economic malaise, and the inequities; the costly and corrosive war in Iraq; the problems of having millions of Americans walking around without health insurance; unemployment....Obama says we must stop addressing these challenges as “Black problems,” or “White problems,” or “Latino problems.” He wants them to be dealt with as American problems.

I want a country that is not divided racially. A country that realizes that we stand stronger as a Nation when we put aside our physical differences and focus more on our commonalities. America's economic issues, health issues, social service issues, ect ..affects ALL AMERICANS. When a states proposition passes, it doesn't say, Okay, this is only mandated for black people, it states this bill will affect everyone from this state.

We need a new form of government. We tried this one and lets face it, it is not working. The economy is screwed up. Our health care system is a joke. Social Services seem to benefit the rich, but the poor can't afford to be a part of it. So I don't know if Barack is the solution, but I know that he brings a sense of hope for me.
