That gasp you heard was coming from the Staples Center and living rooms around the country on Sunday night. It was just the reaction to the 50th annual Grammy Awards. Just when it looked as if Amy Winehouse was going to rule the night, jazz pianist Herbie Hancock took album of the year honors for his album River: The Joni Letters
I must say I am happy for Herbie, but how could Amy Winehouse or Kanye West "not" get album honors. Both had sales off the chart.
Hancock stated he didn't even hear his name being called. It was his 11th Grammy. Not bad for the 67 year old
