Now What Can They Say?

According to CNN, the woman who reported the suspected break-in at Gates complex, never mentioned color. When she called,, Lucia Whalen reports seeing "two larger men, one looked kind of Hispanic, but I'm not really sure, and the other one entered, and I didn't see what he looked like at all."

"Let me be clear: She never had a conversation with Sgt. Crowley at the scene," Murphy told CNN by phone. "And she never said to any police officer or to anybody 'two black men.' She never used the word 'black.' Period."

She added, "I'm not sure what the police explanation will be. Frankly, I don't care. Her only goal is to make it clear she never described them as black. She never saw their race. ... All she reported was behavior, not skin color."

So my question then is "how could they be looking for a black man?" Of course all calls to the police department by the CNN reporter were left unanswered.

Oakland Riots Continue

Oscar Grant was shot to death during an altercation with ... (Courtesy of Johnson Family)

The recent riots sparked by the shooting of 22 year old (Oscar Grant) on New Years Day by a Bart Transit Officer were out of control. On Wednesday night a peaceful demonstration was organized outside the Fruitvale Bart Station. Their were hundred of protesters, who spoke in megaphones and voiced their opinions on the situation between the police and the community.

You know the say, " it only takes one." Well one person apparently spotted a police car (which riled them up), It was reported that someone started cursing at the officers who were standing behind it. The crowd surged forward and started setting dumpsters and cars on fire. The next thing folks started breaking windshields and holding up traffic, rocks started flying everywhere.

This is what I call, "Mob mentality." I think the videos (that were taken by onlookers)have played a major part in escalating the current unrest. Sadly, we have many people who have criminal intentions and they could give a hoot about Oscar Grant, but suddenly it is a chance to loot and riot.

Some people waved photos of Grant and called the officers "pigs" and "murderers." Other demonstrators lay face down with their arms behind their backs to demonstrate what Grant was doing when he was shot in the back by a BART police officer.

I think folks are just tired though. Sometimes it is the same thing day in and day out. You feel trapped the same people that are supposed to be protecting you are killing you.
