Record 66 million

These record-setting figures and particularly the new supporters who can contribute again before Election Day were crucial for Barack Obama, who was heading into the general election as the first major-party candidate to forgo public financing. It was a gutzy move on Obama's part and it paid off.

It however leads me to question the true state of our economy. Here is a political figure who people contributed money to but the some of the same people were crying for hardship. It can attest to the fact though that people are indeed willing to pay for change.
