Boston's City Councilon Charles “Chuck” Turner was indicted today by a federal grand jury on charges of attempted extortion and making false statements to authorities.

Turner, 68, of Roxbury is planning to hold a rally this evening in advance of his next scheduled court appearance tomorrow afternoon in U.S. District Court. He was initially arrested Nov. 21 at City Hall and has loudly professed his innocence. This was an on going investigation.

What is happening to our law officials? Actually nothing new. This corruption is politics has been going on since Roman rule. Perhaps now something is finally being down about it. Turner's indictment accuses him of taking a $1,000 bribe on Aug. 3, 2007, “in exchange for his official acts as a Boston City Councilor in connection with obtaining a liquor license for a proposed restaurant/lounge in the city of Boston.
