Burris Wants His Seat

Well Roland Burris is determined to get his Senate appointment, despite the fact Senate leaders have repeatedly said that they intend to block Mr. Burris from joining the chamber, given his appointment last week by this state’s embattled governor, Rod R. Blagojevich.

I think it if it were not for the fact that Rod appointed homeboy, his seat would actually be secured. However, when you get appointed by someone who is accused of "selling" a Senate seat one would have to realize that this would make it an issue.

Mr. Burris is scheduled to meet with Senate Democratic leaders on Wednesday, including Mr. Reid and Senator Richard J. Durbin, the senior senator from Illinois. Hopefully he can presuade them to assist him in securing the appointment.

Me personally if I were Roland Burris, I would not want it. It is too tainted.

I agree the entire situation is tainted, BUT if he was not involved in the mess than I can definitely understand him wanting to fight for his seat. However if he wins the people will always remember how he got there. Sadly, I think for him it is a lose, lose situation.
