Old School Friday

old school Pictures, Images and Photos

I have missed quite a few OSF's however trying to get back on track. This week's theme is original versus remake songs.

Ms Grapevine and MarvalusOne have teamed up to create a meme titled Old School Friday and since I love my music I had to sign up to join! To join in the Old School Friday Fun go Here for guidelines.

I love the originals but sometimes the remakes are great as well. Many people may not know this, but Eric Clapton was the originator of the popular song, "I shot the Sheriff." This song was a huge success for Bob Marley.

This is Bob's version..

ONELOVE..

I am a little partial, because I like Bob's version. Of course I gots to do my Prince. This song, "do me baby" was my anthem in the 80's and I that's all I will say about that..lol

Then my girl Meli'sa Morgan had her "one hit wonder" with the same song. This remake was actually a pretty good one.

OK, for me Bob OWNED the song. Period. And although I did like Meli'sa Morgan's version of Do Me Baby, she will never give me those little goose bumps like Prince does so he takes the cake on Do Me Baby. Sorry Meli'sa... Man Down!! lol

Gotta go with Bob and Prince! Great picks!

I may be wrong, but I think Bob Marley wrote I Shot the Sheriff...Eric released his version a year after Bob in 74...

But no matter, Bob owned this song to me too!

Nice picks!

Marley owned it!
And I think around these parts everyone knows Prince is THE MAN!! Melissa Morgan did a good job though, but she could never get the kind of reaction that Prince gets!

Marvalus is definitely right! Better correct that one. Marley fans don't play!

And yes, although Melisa kills the song, it belongs to Prince. Hell, every song he made belongs to Prince. I posted D'Angelo cover of Prince Always in My Hair and although he kills it, will always remain a Prince song.

Nice picks.

Where you been? Glad you're back. I'll join the consensus - Bob and Prince, hands down.

I think I like Marley's version best. When I think of the song I instantly here reggae.

Wow where is Melissa Morgan. It's amazing how people disappear in this industry.

I missed a few too, so welcome back.
