Some of you might remember that I posted back in December of 2006 I wrote about "Taneka Talley," the store clerk who was killed Fairfield, California, then her son was denied death benefits because they insurance company states it was "personal." The man who killed her had come into the store looking to kill a black person.
Well two days ago, Taneka's killer was sentenced to 51 years in prison. Tommy Joe Thompson was convicted by a jury in March of the first-degree stabbing murder and Judge Donna Stashyn sentenced him to the maximum term and denied a motion for a new trial.
Thompson got 25 years to life in prison for the murder but the term was doubled because Thompson had a prior felony conviction. He also got an additional year in jail for use of the knife.
Sometimes justice takes a long time but it is swift and sure when it does happen
