I have so many female singers. Wow, a vast array of choices. But here goes.
This song brings back so many memories. This song is often imitated, never duplicated.
This sister has such a smooth and sultry sound. Even in this era Dionne Warwich has one of the most recognizable voices in the industry.
Marcia Griffiths started her career in 1964. From 1970 to 1974 she worked together with Bob Andy in the group Bob and Marcia, on the Harry J label. Between 1974 and 1981 she was a member of the I-Threes, a background group, which supported Bob Marley & the Wailers.
Her song "Electric Boogie" made the Electric Slide, a line dance, an international dance craze. It remains the highest-selling single by a female Reggae singer of all time.
I had to do one more from the Queen of Reggae
and speaking of Queens. YOu know Irie gots to give big up to the all time Queen of Soul ..
Aretha Franklin
I know many folks give the "white soul" award to Teena Marie but Janis Joplin was who I grew up on, that lady could blow, check out this song from the 1969 Woodstock Vintage
okay getting carried away but one more..
dropping the energy a bit with a classic. Sorry Mariah but you can't touch my girl Minnie Riperton (may she rest in peace).

WOW!!! You did it this week! And I whole-heartedly agree that when it comes to Minnie, Mariah is a wannabe! Great picks this week.
I also posted Chaka Khan. She's my all time favorite.
Oh yeah, left you something over at SJP's in my Share the Love post - hope you get a chance to pick it up.
Happy OSF!

Chaka, Minnie, Marcia. Wow! Minnie Ripprton makes me cry like an infant anytime I hear her voice.
All great picks, and I also posted Roberta Flack but man I gotta tell you that Minnie Ripperton is Queen of the pack. And Mariah just don't even come close
You hit on so many styles.
What a trip.
Have a great weekend
Danielle
Wow, you like the theme this week, huh?
Roberta Flack is by far everyone's favorite this week. So many people listed her, but Dionne Warwick is an original along with Marcia Griffiths.
My favorite on your list is Minnie Ripperton, she has one of the best soprano voices. I don't know who I like better Denise Williams or Minnie Ripperton.
Wow indeed. Now you know Chaka is a favorite but damn if you didn't take it there with Minnie! She was one I had to listen to with the headphones on or I'd be in some trouble. LOL Excellent choices.
