Update on Megan Williams Case
This is an update on the Megan Williams case. Two defendants, Karen Burton (46) and Frankie Brewster (49) charged in connection with the torture of a black woman in Logan County last summer have received the maximum sentences possible.
I am so happy to hear these convictions. How can someone have treated a human being like this was beyond my comprehension. How the authorities did not sanction this as a hate crime is beyond belief.
The 21-year-old Charleston woman was rescued by Logan County sheriff's deputies on September 8th last year. Burton's 23-year-old daughter, Alisha, and George Messer, 27, both of Chapmanville, both pleaded guilty in February to kidnapping and assault and received 10-year sentences. Their are still charges pending against Brewsters's 24 year old son Bobby and Danny Combs 21.
