Susan L. Taylor, editor-in-chief of Essence magazine, will be honored in part by famed TV host Oprah Winfrey at a New York event, a press group says.
A Noerdlinger Media press release Saturday said Taylor's 37 years with the magazine for African-American women will be recognized at next Tuesday's event that will feature appearances by Winfrey, music producer Sean Combs and author Terry McMillan.
Proceeds from the Dec. 2 ceremony will benefit the National CARES Mentoring Movement that is dedicated to pairing vulnerable African-American children with a caring mentor.Susan Taylor was born January 23, 1946, in New York, NY; daughter of Lawrence and Violett Taylor; married William Bowles, 1967 , married Khephra Burns. She has one daughter,, She graduated from Fordham University.This woman has turned around how black woman have been viewed in our society.
She deserves all the accolades the Oprah or anyone else gives her.
