Etta James Versus Beyonce

Wow, Catfight in the house. It seems the 71-year-old soul legend Etta James has turned on none other than Beyonce Knowles, who so memorably portrayed her in last year's overlooked film Cadillac Records.

Ms James, complained about not being asked to sing her signature song, "At Last," during President Barack Obama's first dance with his wife, Michelle She was then quoted as saying "You guys know your president, right?" she asked the crowd. "The one with the big ears?" (Rude, Etta!) "He ain't my president. He might be yours..." she continued, before adding that "that woman he had singing for him...she's gonna get her ass whipped. The great Beyonce...I can't stand Beyonce."

Okay, why is Etta hating? Beyonce did and outstanding job. Their is no greater honor then when someone imitates you in life. If Barack wanted OLD ASS ETTA up there, don't you think he would of got her. Dang, Michelle wanted Beyonce.

**sigh** You know, I love Etta James and for me the song is classically beautiful (I of course prefer Etta's version, but anyway) but this mess right here!!!! Etta is to old to be acting like this, what in the world is going on?? I mean I know the song is her song but they requested someone else. Instead of the jealous girl act she should be honored.

didn't she love Bey in the movie? Plain craziness!

I think Etta James won in my opinion. I like Beyonce, and whenever you say something negative, the stans come to her defense. It's just nice to hear someone say it aloud, "I can't stand Beyonce"...

I like Beyonce, but I love Etta James...

I agree with you Regina. How we handle things (especially if you are in the public eye) shows a lot about your character.

She probably was just always "GHETTO!" yeah I said it!

Mrs G...I love Etta as well, but the whole thing is the hypocrisy that surrounds the comments. People who were there witnessed Etta, hugging and congratulating Beyonce on what a great job she did.

If she felt "snubbed" she should of handled that in a totally different manner.

As for the singing...I WILL ALWAYS LOVE ETTAs's version. She is an outstanding artist.
