Old School Friday- Heart of Heart

Well, I made it to the end of the week. Lawd is indeed good. I love this weeks theme- Songs with heart in the title. You have to understand I am a "closet" romantic. So this is right up my alley.

I loved this song growing up. She was one of the more unnoticed people of the 70's but Candi Staton was he first who came to mind when I heard about this theme.








OMG....I can't believe I remember this. This is my "reggae" contribution this week. I actually liked the beat, but the video was chessy as hell. I wonder what happened to the guy in the video?

I love the originals but sometimes the remakes are great as well. Many people may not know this, but Eric Clapton was the originator of the popular song, "I shot the Sheriff." This song was a huge success for Bob Marley.





This is Bob's version..

I am a little partial, because I like Bob's version. Of course I gots to do my Prince. This song, "do me baby" was my anthem in the 80's and I that's all I will say about that..lol




Then my girl Meli'sa Morgan had her "one hit wonder" with the same song. This remake was actually a pretty good one.

I tell you if I had money on every song I had for my breakups, I know that I would own that mansion on the hill by now.

I remember this song as my "very" first break up song....dang...I wonder where that dude is now. However Roberta Flack and Donny Hathaway broke the pain down for me.



....and the Manhattans amplified it. When they sang this song in the 70's (I was an expert at breakups by then)...wow, I sure did have a lot of boyfriends..(irie shakes her head at the memories)..




....but Angie Stone eased all my pain when she did this classic

I want to thank my sistah over at Sojourners Place for bestowing on me the "Sharing the Love " Award. Sorry so late in getting back. I am moving at the moment and blogging and moving don't mix. The "Sharing The Love "Award, was created by Blogger Crystal at "Memoirs Of A Mommy" blog, in honor of donor who saved her one month old's life a year ago. Cyrstal's son Noah celebrated his first birthday this week thanks to someone you final gift was the gift of life.
