Old Schol Friday - Doing Da Disco

Well, it is time for old school friday again! Wow, where has the week gone? I got to say I love the "boogie era!" It was hot! DiscoMusic.com is a multi award winning resource since 1996 and a thriving interactive community for the vinyl Disco record collector or '70s / 80s nostalgia buff.

Disco never went away as some would have you believe. It merely evolved and worked its way into the fabric of and is the basis of House, Rap, dance and pop music today.

One of my favorite disco singers is Donna Summer. I just love the beat of this song. It was very remeinsce of the late 70's, early 80's era.

and the song that shocked all the Discjockeys on the radio at that time. (check out the crazy dancing in this video).

This group really turned it out in the disco era. They were very popular back in my days of growing up in Brooklyn. I remember doing the dance "the freak" to this song.

You guys know I had to come up with something different. How many of you remember this jam. This woman had some limited success (she also teamed up with Curtis Mayfield briefly). This song was so mellow and powerful all at the same time.

Linda Clifford

I think this was one of the greatest disco tunes. Listen to the instrumentals and check out the album cover. Crazy man. The sound bites for this song has been sampled so many times, by so many artist.

I think Donna Summers is the disco queen, but in that second video I do not know what those back up dancers are doing, but I don't think you can call that dancing...

I didn't realize how sensual that song is...

I agree with Mrs. G...those background dancers in the Donna Summers video are on some other stuff back there...

Good choices!

LOL!! You certainly went all out! Disco was an era like no other, wasn't it?! So many great jams to pick from! Loves me some Donna Summer (even though they said she used to be a man!).
