Censure for Rangel

The bipartisan House Ethics Committee recommended Thursday that embattled New York Democrat Charles B. Rangel be censured by the full House of Representatives for ethics violations, the stiffest penalty a member can face short of expulsion.

 I know that Rangel is not the first politician high in government to be caught with his pants down, so now lets clean up the rest of the "white collar," crime going on in on Capital Hill.

Tribute to Brandy on DWTS

Yeah, tea baggers did their thing, but the viewing audience understands that Brandy exited last night with elegance and grace. Now if Kyle goes next. I really am going to stop watching this show. It reminds me of American Idol. A show made up of people who can “trick the system,” so really who know what the actual count is. I don't understand why they don't just leave it up to the judges. You did great Brandy.

Willow is a hit

I know as a mom Jada must be so proud of all of her children. Willow Smith has whipped her hair to the top of the charts. Billboard’s Hot New Artist have her coming in at the top ten of the, "Hot Digital Song Chart." I can't wait to see what other adventures this aspiring singer and very beautiful young lady will bring on the music scene. Her brother can sing as well. Perhaps they would consider a duet.

Al Sharpton wants to sue Rush Limbaugh

Now, I am going to start off by saying, "I lived in Crown Heights during the riots in the 90's," Al Sharpton did nothing to incite that. The situation with Tawaana Brawley was an unfortunate one, but just like with the "ballon boy," mess, certain situations tug at your heart strings. 


So here we are in 2009 and Rush Limbaugh is accusing Al Sharpton, (who Irie ain't really got that much love for), of starting the riots n Crown Heights, Brooklyn New York. He is demanding and apology from Limbaugh. Limbaugh made the statment in The Wall Street Journal. He also said that Sharpton incited the riots in 1995 killing spree at a harlem store. 


Now why is Limbaugh such and idiot. You can't go around making, "blanket statements, " like that unless you can prove it.

Whitney Houston Interview on Oprah

I liked the interview. I think we as a community need to uplift each other, instead of bringing each other down. Whitney has to do what she has to do in order to move forward. Her mother tried everything to save her. I think Bobby was an enabler. Whitney was into drugs before Bobby. However when you get with someone who is going to bring you down further then it just gets worse.

Whitney's worse move was doing that "reality show," "Being Bobby Brown." Having cameras in your life 24/7 can be hard on any family. It did show another side of Whitney to me. This is a talented woman, such a wonderful voice. I wish her well on her comeback trail

Katrina Remembered- 4 years

President Obama used his weekly radio and Internet address Saturday to mark the fourth anniversary of Hurricane Katrina, saying that his administration is cutting red tape and bulking up resources to accelerate the Gulf Coast's recovery from the storm.




It is a shame that after all these years we still have so many displaced families. This was the best evidence of "what" not to do in case of an emergency. Fema was not prepared and dropped the ball.

More Politicians Screwing Up

Well, as the song says, "And The Beat Goes On." It seems that Mose Jefferson, (from New Orleans), the older brother of the former U.S. Rep. William Jefferson who was convicted two weeks ago of abusing his congressional office to enrich himself and his family, has been, convicted by a federal jury on four charges that he bribed an Orleans Parish School Board member.

I don't know why every time I hear these stories I seem so shocked. These politicians have been doing this for years. It seems that (according to the NOLA TIMES), that the two counts of bribery involved payments made to Brooks-Simms( while she was a member of the Orleans Parish School Board. The jury acquitted Jefferson of the third bribery count, which involved a payment made after Brooks-Simms was off the School Board.

Now this man knows all the people of New Orleans have been through and still he saw fit to abuse his political power. Money is indeed a bad vice for some folks.

Moses Miller-The Barack in Me

Moses Miller has a new book out. Mr Miller cites with many children in the African American community growing up in single parent households, Mr. Miller felt a need to convey a message directly from a male who could identify with their issues and understand their plight.

"I conduct speaking engagements all the time with youth that don't have positive male role models in their lives. Even with an African American President, they can't see that they have the same potential for greatness. This book is one small step in an effort to guide and nurture our youth. We can't expect them to do it on their own," explains Moses Miller.

I haven't seen the host with the most in years. I was saddened to hear about his misdemeanor arrest in October for domestic violence. What is this some kind of "fad" now?
The 72-year-old showbiz vet who was facing up to three counts of spousal battery, one count of dissuading a witness from making a police report and one count of assault with a deadly weapon—each charge carries a maximum sentence of one year in county jail.

UPDATE: Cornelius was sentenced to three years' probation after pleading no contest to one count of corporeal injury resulting in traumatic condition of a spouse stemming from his October arrest.

You can bet your last money we gonna hear some more news from this honey!

Obama' First Meeting with Black Caucus

Yesterday was one of the first meeting that Obama's administration had with the Congressional Black Caucus. The group consists of 42 members. I bet it was a thrill to finally sit down with someone who has made history happen.

The Caucus chairwoman, Rep. Barbara Lee of California, called the hourlong White House meeting a "historic moment."

Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee, a fellow Houstonian, noted the 12 percent unemployment rate among blacks and said the caucus is eager to work with Obama on solutions.

"This was a vibrant meeting. This was a meeting where there were a lot of 'amens' because here we were, listening to someone that is on the same page.

Young Black Males Inspired By Obama

I found this wonderful article from Kalamazoo, Michigan where several students were praising the accomplishments of our new President. Keith Berry, a 19 year old, African-American, at Phoenix High School in Kalamazoo states, "He went through a lot of struggles when he was younger -- hanging out with the wrong crowd, smoking things he shouldn't been smoking," Berry said. "I have a lot of struggles in my life, too. But he turned his life around by putting his head into books, just like I want to do. ... It's, like, stop trying to be a thug, making bad choices."

Keith says, he identifies with Obama's adolescence and sees him as a model on how to reform. Berry is now finishing his high school studies at Kalamazoo's Phoenix High School and also is taking classes at Kalamazoo Valley Community College.

This maybe just one story of millions. Obama has brought hope to many of our African American Males who did not have a role model to identify with. They were told by teachers and even parents that they would not amount to anything. Their hope was in gangs, drugs, the prison system. Here is someone who is telling them that you ARE SOMEBODY. Here is someone that is giving so many of our young black males hope.

Obama represents hope and change. I feel through his own sense of education and commitment ot family that these images are more positive then the images our youth are often viewing through our media.

AP News has shown this open letter that Obama wrote to his daughters. Here it is below in its entirety.

"WASHINGTON (AFP) – In an open letter to his young daughters, US president-elect Barack Obama said Thursday that he entered the race for the White House "because of what I want for you and for every child in this nation."
"When I was a young man, I thought life was all about me -- about how I'd make my way in the world, become successful, and get the things I want. But then the two of you came into my world," Obama said in the letter published in Parade magazine, a weekend newspaper color supplement.
"I realized that my own life wouldn't count for much unless I was able to ensure that you had every opportunity for happiness and fulfilment in yours. People should not forget the Jim Crow laws that prevented African Americans from voting until the 1960s. I really think many folks in this election process are laid back and simply not remembering the recent difficulty that some voters with the punch-card design and ballots done improperly in the 2000 elections in n Florida. Ohio had similar issues in 2004,when African American voters said they were disenfranchised when too few machines in their precincts led to long lines.

Giannina Miranda, executive assistant for the Department of Elections, said some people who think they are registered are not, for various reasons, including a move outside the county or registration paperwork not getting to the department. "It's difficult to say how many times it happens," she said. "But we don't consider it purged."

Amos Brown, president of the San Francisco chapter of the NAACP and Third Baptist Church pastor, is one of several African American pastors who will ask his congregation to vote Sunday after church. Vans will gather in Bayview-Hunters Point and the Western Addition to take parishioners from several churches to vote and then hold a rally around 2 p.m. on the steps of City Hall.

The boom in early voting is fed by election officials' desire to expand turnout without overwhelming polls. "The operative word is options," says Pedro Cortés, president of the National Association of Secretaries of State."

So don't make any excuses, get out there an make your voice heard.

Obama Bucks-Crazy Mess

This was said NOT to be intended as racist. It was stated that if Obama was nominated he would be on the face of food stamps.

The October newsletter of the "Chaffey Community Republican Women, Federated" shows a picture of Obama depicted on a phony $10 bill surrounded by a watermelon, ribs and a bucket of fried chicken.

The newsletter was sent to about 200 club members and associates last week by mail and e-mail.

Diane Fedele, president of the group, said the move had no racist intent.

"I never connected," she said. "It was just food to me. It didn't mean anything else."

The fact she didn't see anything wrong with this imagery has me very concerned.
