20 gang raped this girl near my location, no one helped

http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2009/images/10/27/gangrape.highschool.jpg

I know by now many of you have read the story of the 15 year old that was gang raped outside the high school in Richmond California. I don't know if any of my readers have any religious affliations, but I do. If this is not a sign of the last days, I don't know what is.

How have our children evolved so much that they can callously (not to mention even participate) in a rape of a young girl who just turned 15. Did these young boys not have sisters? mothers? aunts? grandmothers?

There were as many as 10 people who participated in the Oct. 24 attack on the girl in a dimly lit courtyard on campus. The school dance was going on in the high school. The victim was found naked and semi-conscious after the nearly two-hour assault.
Investigators believe as many as 20 people may have watched the rape without calling police. I have a friend who knows the family. Immediately there were members of that family who wanted swift justice, thankfully calmer heads prevailed. You can't fight violence with violence.

Today a 6th suspect was picked up and charged. Contra Costa County prosecutors According to a  1999 California law. it is illegal not to report a witnessed crime against a child, but the law applies only to children 14 and under.filed rape charges against five others, ranging in age from 15 to 21. Time for this and MANY other laws to be revised.

8year old marries 47 year old Man

This looks like something that would be in Weird News or something, however it is true. A man in Saudi Arabia has caused a controversy with some of its top clerics. The practice of men marrying children in Saudi Arabia dates back to centuries ago. However, this newest marriage has put this practice back in the spotlight. The top cleric's have refused to annul this marriage.

The mother of the child signed a petition to have the marriage annulled. The judge rejected a petition from the girl's mother, whose lawyer said the marriage was arranged by her father to settle a debt with "a close friend." The judge required the girl's husband to sign a pledge that he would not have sex with her until she reaches puberty. Yeah right, he is gonna honor that.

I worry sometimes that my daughter might fall in love with someone who's cultural practices I disagree with. I know I don't have any control who my children fall in love with, but because I myself am from another culture, I often tell them to find out the practices of that culture if they find they are getting really deep in that relationship.

I am sorry, I would have to leave that country (and claim political asylum) before I commit to having my "baby" (because that is what an 8 year old is) marrying a grown man. I notice in the mid eastern countries that you don't have the young boys marrying older women....hmmm..

Ann Nixon Cooper

"Things are changing, changing, changing, and I look for more change now that it's the first black president in victory of faith over fear," the 106-year-old Atlantan told a reporter.

"Don't you know, that's quite something to be proud of."

During his speech in Chicago, Illinois, Obama noted that Cooper has had a front-row seat on the kind of change that became the campaign mantra that helped him sweep to victory in Tuesday's election.

Cooper was born in 1902, Obama noted, "just a generation past slavery; a time when there were no cars on the road or planes in the sky; when someone like her couldn't vote for two reasons -- because she was a woman and because of the color of her skin.

She has recently overcome two heart attacks and other medical issues. However, she managed to come out and show her support for change.

We have overcome in America with this election. Ann Nixon Cooper could be your grandmother or mine, yesterdays she saw her dream come true.

Condolences to Jennifer Hudson and Her Family

Darnell Hudson-Donnerson

I guess by now everyone has heard of the tragedy that has happened to Jennifer Hudson. Jennifer Hudson’s mother, Darnell Hudson-Donnerson and her brother Jason Hudson were both shot and killed in Chicago this morning. Neighbors reported hearing the gun shots, but didn’t think anything about it.

It wasn’t until later in the afternoon that a family member discovered the body of Jennifer Hudson’s mother on the living room floor.

Chicago Police listed Julia’s husband, William Balfour as the primary suspect. He is reportedly in custody but Julian wasn’t with him and he hasn’t been charged with anything - yet. It’s been noted that he is on parole, after serving time on an attempted murder charge..

William Balfour (suspect) has the baseball hat on

And Jennifer’s nephew, Julian is still missing.

An amber alert is in effect for the whereabouts of Julian
Ominously, TMZ says Julia may be missing as well. She is a bus driver, worked her shift today and hasn’t been seen since.

Jennifer Hudson is on her way to Chicago. We are all praying for both Julia and her son Julian.

Transracial Adoption

Moses

This may be a controversial topic for some people. I have my plus and minuses regarding transracial adoption. Part of me knows that children appreciate whoever shows them love. The problem sometimes lies with the identification process by black children adopted outside their race. I remember reading where Angelina Jolie wanted to adopt another black child, because she wanted to have her daughter Sahara to have someone to "look" like her.

It seems like adopting African babies is a "new fad" now among celebrities (Madonna, The pitts...).
Meanwhile a report ( The report,) released by the Evan B. Donaldson Adoption Institute, recommends major changes to the 1994 Multi-Ethnic Placement Act. The institution states the "Act" places too much emphasis on “color blindness” and not enough on race-oriented education.

I agree with this statement 100%. There are a high number of black children who are in foster care. U.S. laws require discounting race in placing those children, but some believe race, or at least race education, should be a major factor. ( I am one of them).

The study goes on to state. Of the black children adopted out of foster care, about 20 percent are adopted by white families. The Donaldson report said current federal law, by stressing color blindness, deters child welfare agencies from assessing families' readiness to adopt transracially or preparing them for the distinctive challenges they might face.

"There is a higher rate of problems in minority foster children adopted transracially than in-race," said the report. "All children deserve to be raised in families that respect their cultural heritage."

It's All About You "Mr. Bush"

Well, it is quite obvious with anyone who listened to Dubyah's speech yesterday that it was all about him. It sure as hell wasn't about the military. As an ex military member, I support my brothers and sisters out there supporting this crazy "one man" war. When Dubyah reaafirmed his commitment to "accept no outcome but victory" in the war, I just felt the only other thing he could of done was smell his armpit and grunt.

I have to put up this quote because this says it all, "Bush's approval rating five years ago, at the start of the Iraq war, was 71 percent, and that 40-point drop is almost identical to the drop President Lyndon Johnson faced during the Vietnam War," CNN polling director Keating Holland said.

If you are progressing why are the numbers "regressing" Mr. Bush?

It is a slap in the face to leave those military members out there, just for your own political glory. Glory whick will not come before November.

The Fun Is Over The Fight Is On

Barack Obama's run for the presidency is not y over, but it's a little deflated. He has to focus on the fight. For now, the fun is over. I liken it to the Baseball team that had that run going. They were 7 games up in the series. Everyone was routing for them (even some fans that were not part of their homestate). Then the slanderous videos started. Soon the team's confidence got shaken a little.

Well, this isn't a baseball run, but Obama has to take Clinton's seriously. I am not mentioning (Whitewater) but it seems that the Clintons have taken on the "By All Means Necessary," stance.
When Clinton states she has had experience in Foreign affairs, I wonder if she was specifically dealing with the "Lewinsky" matter. As far as I can see visiting a foreign country, when you are standing by your husband's side, does not count.

Obama needs to understand 11 primary victories doesn't make the campaign. He still has to increase that lead to clinch the delegates he needs to claim victory. Hillary Clinton's tireless campaigning was probably the key to her victories this week, in Texas, Ohio and Rhode Island.

So I feel fight fire with fire. A man who has 4 years experience in office can bring about a new perspective to the issues in this country, then someone who has been in office longer but still doesn't grasp the issues. If Hillary wins we don't have one president, we have two. Barack is running against "The Clinton's." Once her realizes that, and emphasizes that point to his supporters I feel things will change for him.
